Our purpose
We publish plain information for people dealing with fire, smoke and soot damage, and we operate a 24/7 referral line. Information on this site is written to help you ask better questions. It is not a substitute for advice from a licensed contractor, insurer, attorney or engineer.
Sources we use
We link to primary and recognized sources where we cite facts: the National Fire Protection Association, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the American Red Cross, Ready.gov, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the Chimney Safety Institute of America and the ANSI/IICRC S700 standard. We do not copy articles from other sites, and we describe sources in our own words.
What we do not claim
We do not claim to be a contractor, to hold licenses on behalf of the companies we refer, to guarantee arrival times, or to guarantee results or insurance payment. We do not publish fabricated reviews, fake local offices or street addresses we do not have.
Review and updates
Pages carry the month they were last reviewed. We revisit guides when standards, source data or our own information changes, and we correct errors when we find them or when readers report them.
Referral compensation
We may be compensated by participating companies when calls are connected. That does not change what our guides say about how to evaluate a company. See the referral disclosure.
Corrections
If you see a mistake, write to contact@firedamagerestorationusa.com with the page address and the correction. We review each report.
